The Forgetory is an annual publication of creative, audacious criticism devoted to these questions: Where do the fugitive correspondences in visual culture lie, and what can they illuminate? Which elements of our histories must we unearth in order to ground the present? Which written boundaries can and must be traversed when addressing a work of art?

Each issue of the magazine investigates a thematic topic—finding a relationship between visual culture and its nexus of literature, poetics, and interred histories. Comprised of longer essays that move beyond apparent trends, The Forgetory strives to be probing and lucid—a repository for texts as challenging and unforgettable as the subjects they confront.
